Customer was already using AWS services like RDS Postgres for the scalability, cost effectiveness and availability offered by AWS. However, BI teams accessing the transactional database for reporting and analytical purposes was impacting the performance of the database.
Solution is to separate Analytics workload from Cloverly webapp application. ITTStar, has implemented configuration driven Glue jobs to create a Data Lake in s3. Customer can update configuration files to define which objects are imported into Data Lake and define how incremental and change data is identified. CloudWatch and SNS were used to provide monitoring for the Glue jobs.

Solution provided used serverless components like AWS Glue and was configuration driven. Configuration files allow customer to include/exclude objects in Data Lake without having to modify the code. Security, cost, and performance were focused on in deciding all services, file formats, partitions etc.
To solve this business challenge, ITTStar engaged with Cloverly on a workshop to walk them through the process we are going to follow and the perks the client accessing the transactional database for reporting and analytical purposes will now be able to see boost in the performance of the database after we separate Analytics workload from Cloverly webapp application.
