Customer Challenge

The costs associated with managing and maintaining an on-premises environment is that all the solution entails and can run exponentially higher than a cloud computing environment. An on-premises setup required in-house server hardware, software licenses, integration capabilities, and IT employees on hand to support and manage potential issues that may arise. That doesn't even factor in the amount of maintenance that a company is responsible for when something breaks or doesn’t work.

Partner Solution

The project for licensing downgrade was to drive optimization in costs and right-sizing database licensing per instance. The effort involved migrating production SQL Servers to AWS AMI-based instances with the same or less costly version of the SQL Server code. A few non-production instances were also in scope to be migrated and moved to the developer edition.

AWS databases deliver the high availability, reliability, and security required for business-critical, enterprise workloads. AWS met our storage and compute needs easily, often with no downtime. It also supported multi-region, and multi-primary replication, and offered full data oversight with multiple security layers, including network isolation and end-to-end encryption.
